Ado-Ekiti, — The First Lady of Ekiti State, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, has donated essential items to the Transit Home for victims of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Ado-Ekiti, to improve the welfare and living conditions of residents.
The items were presented on her behalf by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Peju Babafemi.

Babafemi said the donation included plastic chairs, sanitary towels and other welfare materials aimed at promoting hygiene, comfort and general wellbeing of the children and young girls at the facility.
She said the gesture reflected the First Lady’s commitment to the protection and care of vulnerable groups, particularly children and young girls in need of support.
According to her, the donation also fulfilled promises earlier made by Dr Oyebanji during a previous visit to the Transit Home.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Olusola Femi-Adeluyi, expressed appreciation to the First Lady for her sustained support for vulnerable children in the state.

Femi-Adeluyi said the intervention would significantly improve hygiene and comfort at the facility, while boosting the morale of the residents.
She also commended the First Lady for her advocacy on child welfare issues and for using her position to positively impact the lives of vulnerable persons.
The Transit Home serves as a temporary shelter for children and young persons in need of care, protection and rehabilitation.
